1. What does Beowulf allude to in the first stanza? The Bible, with attention to Creation

2. What happened because of Cain and Abel's incident? the evil created when Cain killed Abel spawned thousands of types of evil and monsters

3. What moral can we learn from the first section? what goes around comes around

4. Where does Grendel live? in marshes and slime

5.What happened in the beginning of section two? How many men did Grendel kill? When did he actually attack? Grendel entered Herot; 30 men; at night

6.What payment would Grendel accept to make him stop killing everyone? nothing, only more lives

7.What is one phrase from the poem that illustrates Grendel's evil? "No savage assault could quench his lust for evil"

8.Why wouldn't Grendel touch Hrothgar's throne? it was protected by God

9.In the end of section two, where was their only source of peace? they could only find peace in their Father (God)

10.Who told Beowulf about the trouble Grendel was causing? Higlac (his uncle)
